Mylie Cyrus has revealed that she knew her relationship with her former fiance was over even before they formally announced the split.
The 'We Can't Stop' hitmaker told Fashion Magazine that her new song 'Drive' was written about the 'Hunger Games' star in February, months before their split in September, ABC News reported.
The 20-year-old popstar said that she was working Valentine's Day, which was a hard time for her emotionally.
Cyrus told the publication that the song is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut off from the relationship.
She added that the song depicts a time when one wants to leave but can't and also about moving on.
Cyrus' shocking VMA's performance with Robin Thicke made it clear that the couple were indeed over.
