The Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation today rushed two lakh litres of water bottles for the flood affected people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry has also dispatched water purification plants of four lakh litres capacity per day to help augment the drinking water supplies in the state as a part of the central relief measures.
Union Minister for Rural Development and Drinking Water and Sanitation Nitin Gadkari took the decision to airlift drinking water on a war footing measure at a high level meeting of the concerned officials here.
The meeting followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction to all the Ministries and Departments of the Central government to join in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures to help and assist the state government in tiding over the unprecedented natural calamity faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
