Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday said the focus of their meeting with the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Foreign Affairs Adviser Sartaj Aziz was on the issue of Kashmir, and added that it is high time that a serious engagement between India and Pakistan and the Jammu and Kashmir leadership should begin, and try to resolve this issue.

"The focus was on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. We were of the view that as far the situation of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, Kashmir is primarily a political problem, it needs a political solution, and it's high time that a serious engagement between India and Pakistan and the leadership of J and K should start, and we should try to resolve the issue," he said after his meeting with Aziz at the Pakistan High Commission here.

He further said Hurriyat has always maintained that at the India-Pakistan level also, mutual trust needs to be built.

"Hurriyat has also discussed that we seek cooperation rather than confrontation, and it's high time the Indian leadership also come forward with a sincere mindset, so that serious negotiations among all parties could be initiated," he said.

"Hurriyat's main focus of this meeting is to reinstate the support to the India, Pakistan dialogue, and involvement of people of Kashmir in that dialogue," he added.

Kashmir separatist leaders met Sartaj Aziz today to discuss the Kashmir issue, and the frequent ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).

Aziz arrived in the national capital today to attend ASEM Foreign Ministers meet on November 11 and November 12.
