Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Czech Republic partner Barbora Strycova survived an early scare to book their place in the quarter-finals of the women's doubles event of Wuhan Open here on Tuesday.

After losing the opening set, the Indo-Czech bounced back strongly to register a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 win over Canadian-Spaniard pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in a thrilling second-round contest that lasted one hour and 15 minutes.

Mirza and Strycova are playing their fourth tournament together and are bidding to secure their third women's doubles title in two months.

Last month, the pair clinched the Cincinnati Open title by defeating Slovakian-American duo of Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe before lifting the Pan Pacific Open title in Tokyo on Saturday.
