Indian origin Miss America 2014, Nina Davuluri, who was recently targeted by racist comments on various social networking sites, has revealed that she wasn't really surprised by the hate-filled backlash to her win.

The Syracuse-born beauty told The News that she'd experienced the same kind of remarks when she'd won Miss New York and she knew if she won Miss America it would happen again, the New York Daily News reported.

Davuluri also revealed that she was most touched by the support she received from actress Vanessa Williams, who battled the same kind of hatred after she became the first African-American Miss America thirty years ago.

Davuluri, 24, asserted that the racist attack on her just shows that, in 30 years, we've evolved, but how much further we have to go.
