Former Australian paceman Mitchell Johnson has hosed down the prospect of making a return to the national team, saying he is enjoying his time in domestic cricket.

Johnson has been in impressive form for the Perth Scorchers in his first Big Bash League (BBL) campaign, snaring 12 wickets in eight matches to lead the Scorchers to their fifth final in six years.

When asked after the match whether he would consider a return to the Australia Twenty20 team, Johnson said that the current players in the squad are playing better cricket than him before adding that he doesn't want to make a comeback.

"I don't think I want to play to be honest. I don't think it would be as enjoyable for me. I've had my moment in the sun, and that's done and dusted. These young guys are still playing better cricket than I am," Sport24 quoted Johnson as saying.

The Big Bash League (BBL) final is slated to be held at Perth on Saturday.
