British sprinter Mo Farah has brushed aside controversy surrounding his coach Alberto Salazar by retaining his 10,000m crown at the World Championships on Saturday in Beijing.
The double Olympic champion recovered from a last-lap trip to finish the race in 27 minutes 01.31 seconds. Farah fended off a spirited challenge of his three Kenyan rivals before crossing the finishing mark, the BBC reported.
Geoffrey Kamworor claimed silver after finishing second in 27.01.76, while his compatriot Paul Tanui came third in 24.32.34.
Farah, the 32-year-old, has now shifted his focus to become the first man to achieve an unprecedented 5,000 and 10,000 double at consecutive world championships at the Bird's Nest Stadium next Saturday.
