British long-distance runner Mo Farah has said that he eats, sleeps, trains, rests and looks at the walls to beat loneliness when he is far away from his wife, step daughter and little girls, and missed them during the World Championships at Moscow.

According to the Mirror, five global titles make Farah, statistically at least, Britain's greatest ever athlete ahead of Sebastian Coe, Jonathan Edwards, and even Daley Thompson.

Farah said that it was never easy and while he was out by himself in a flashy hotel where there was not even Sky Sports News on TV.

He said that he had photos of the family, or him playing with the twins, eating ice-cream with them and when he looked through them, it hit him how much he missed them.

However, this is the price of being the best; the commitment he knows he cannot avoid if gold medal-winning nights in Berlin, London and Moscow are to be repeated, the report said.

Farah said that he got emotional in Moscow about the sacrifice and the twins not recognizing him, adding that he wants to be a good parent.
