In order to create awareness among common people about the steps to be taken during an earthquake, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in association with the State Disaster Management Authorities of Tripura conducted a multi-stage mega mock drill recently.
The drill was organized at different sites in capital Agartala and in remote Dhalai District.
The objective was to assess the coordination of different agencies during a disaster.
A similar mock exercise was conducted in Manipur at Thoubal and Imphal East Districts.
This was the second phase of the mock exercise which covered all eight north eastern states that fall in the seismic zone.
