Moderate to heavy polling in fifth phase of LS polls

Moderate to heavy polling was reported in the states that went to polls in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

In Bihar, where polls were held in seven Lok Sabha constituencies, 56 percent voting was recorded as compared to 39.3 percent during 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

In Karnataka 68 percent voting was recorded as compared to 58 percent in 2009. Polling was delayed in a few booths due to EVM problem.

Polling in Odisha saw 70 percent as compared to 66.28 percent in 2009. In West Bengal polling was reported to be 78.89 percent and the figure might go up to 82 percent.

 

In Uttar Pradesh, where 1.85 crore people voted, the poll percent was reported to be 62.52 percent, up from 55.09 percent in 2009

Meanwhile, in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, 63.44 percent and 54.41 percent polling was reported respectively. Polling in Madhya Pradesh in 2009 was 46.21 percent.

In Manipur, 74 per cent polling was recorded in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat in the first two hours of polling.
