Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday said it is Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who are actually running the government in Delhi, and added that they are the reason for country's destruction.

"The government of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is the reason for the destruction of country," said Modi while addressing a rally here.

Raking up the controversy surrounding the book of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's former media advisor Sanjay Baru, Modi said, "Whenever the country use to feel angry and there was loss, then the people used to criticize Dr. Manmohan Singh. But recently a book came out which claims that in Delhi there is the government of Mother-Son duo (Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi)."

"It is for the first time in history, that the PMO had to hold a press conference and explain that Dr. Manmohan Singh had spoken about 1100 times. Now, tell me who will save the country? Can it be saved if such people are at the helm of affairs?" he added.

On Sonia's visit to Amethi, Modi said: "She told the people of Amethi that Indira Gandhi had given her son (Rajiv Gandhi) to Amethi. And now she is also doing the same. She further appealed that 'take care of my son'. On the one side Sonia is appealing to people to take care of her son but on the other side she is pitching him to take care of the country. Does it make sense?"

"A man who was not able to take care of Amethi, how will he able to take care of the country?" he said apparently referring to Rahul.

Raking up the issue of women's safety in Delhi, Modi said Rahul is answerable on this issue as he lives in Delhi and there is Congress government in the centre.

"What have you done till now to address this issue? You go everywhere and talk about women's empowerment, you are actually misleading them to get votes," he added.

Referring to Chhattisgarh assembly poll results, Modi said, "Few months ago, some Congress leaders were getting new clothes stitched for the oath taking ceremony. They had even allotted departments between them, but the people of Chhattisgarh spoiled their plans."

He wondered what sins the Congress party had committed that the people of Chhattisgarh are not ready to elect them again.
