Modi condoles Tamil Nadu BJP leader's death, hopes culprits are punished

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the demise of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader V. Ramesh, who was hacked to death by a group of assailants inside his house in a Tamil Nadu town last night.

"Killing of our Tamil Nadu unit's Gen Sec Shri V Ramesh is shocking. Spoke to TN BJP President last night and expressed sadness on the killing. My deepest condolences to the family of Shri V Ramesh. May his soul rest in peace. The culprits must be punished at the earliest," Narendra Modi tweeted.

V. Ramesh was the General Secretary of the BJP Tamil Nadu unit.

 

According to reports, Ramesh had returned home after meeting party workers around 10 pm and was attacked by assailants hiding in his house's compound. He died on the spot.
