Hitting out at the Narendra Modi-led government for working solely for the betterment of bureaucrats and putting the interests of the common man aside, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Sunday accused the Centre of failing to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities.
Addressing a press conference here, Mayawati launched a fresh wave of attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre and accused them of following the corrupt footsteps of the previous Congress government.
"The BJP keeps using phrases like 'jungle raj and 'gunda raj' for UP and our party strongly condemns that. After the Ayodhya violence, the BJP government was removed and President's rule was imposed and an atmosphere of peace was restored. During polls, the BJP promised that they will fix the law and order once they came to power, but they seem to have forgotten that," she said.
Asserting that the BJP was threatened by the growing power and popularity of the BSP, Mayawati further stated that the saffron party had been using different ploys and tactics and making false promises like the one of bringing back black money.
"PM Modi promised the entire nation that he will bring back the black money in 100 days as soon as his government forms, but nothing like that happened. Keeping this in mind, the people of UP should not fall under such tricks and further strengthen the BSP so that the party can work for the betterment of the people," Mayawati said.
Further accusing the Centre of leaning more towards the betterment of the bureaucrats and the creamy layer of the society, she called on the government to stop playing politics over everything and extend complete support to Uttarakhand, as the state wdealing with natural calamity issues.
