Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial aspirant Narendra Modi said that Finance Minister P. Chidambaram is responsible for the country's low economic growth.

He further taunted Chidambaram, and said that going to Harvard means nothing, but what matters is sheer hard work.

"A man who has just studied in an ordinary school, sold tea and has not even seen the doors of Harvard has shown what it takes to handle economy. Going to Harvard means nothing. What matters is hard work," he said while addressing a rally here on Saturday.

In an indirect reference to Chidambaram, Modi said that the government at the Centre, which is managed by a Harvard educated, has higher unemployment rate and lower growth rate.
