Monaco's royals have slammed the makers of Nicole Kidman starrer 'Grace of Monaco.'

In a statement, Prince Albert II and Princesses Caroline and Stephanie said that the "biopic" does not accurately portray events involving their mother, Hollywood actress, Grace Kelly, who married Monaco's Prince Rainier III in 1956, News.com.au reported.

Olivier Dahan directed 'Grace of Monaco' will officially open the 67th Cannes festival on May 14, when it will be released in France and several cities across the globe.

The statement issued by the royals said that the Prince's Palace would like to reiterate that the film cannot under any circumstances be classified as a biopic, asserting that the trailer appeared to be a farce and confirms the totally fictional nature of this film.

The statement further read that the trailer reinforces the certainty that this flim is based on erroneous and dubious historical references, adding that the royal family does not wish to be associated with the film that reflects no reality and regrets that Its history has been misappropriated for commercial purposes.
