iQiyi, Chinese online entertainment company, has settled a deal with Viacom's Nickelodeon for getting streaming rights of Mandarin and English language programming. The deal provides the platform with four times more Nickelodeon programming.
iQiyi's and Nickelodeon has been working together since 2012. With the latest deal, iQiyi is getting streaming rights to famous Nickelodeon serials including, 'Ninja Turtles', 'SpongeBob SquarePants', 'Shimmer and Shine', and 'Blaze and the Monster Machines', as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Mark Whitehead, president and managing director, Asia Pacific at Viacom International Media Networks, said that China is a strategic market for Viacom and iQiyi is enabling them to meet the demand of Nickelodeon's content for the Chinese audience.
Commenting on the same, Geng Danhao, senior vice president of iQiyi said that they are looking forward to expanding their children's content and feel that it is important to collaborate with a brand like Nickelodeon that had attractive and relevant content.
Till the end of 2017, iQiyi had about 421 million monthly active users and 126 million daily active users, consuming the content via their mobile phones.
