Morgan Freeman and Idris Elba express grief over death of Nelson Mandela

Morgan Freeman and Idris Elba have spoken out in the wake of Nelson Mandela's death.

Elba, who portrayed the South African leader in his recent film 'Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom', said that he was "stunned" to hear of his death and is in mourning with the rest of the world and Mandela's family.

The 41-year-old British actor added that he is "honored" to be associated with iconic anti-apartheid revolutionary.

Freeman, who played Mandela in the 2009 movie 'Invictus' expressed his grief and said that the "world has lost one of the true giants of the past century" who was a "saint to many, a hero to all who treasure liberty, freedom and the dignity of humankind".

 

The 76-year-old American actor also penned an essay for Time on playing the role of the former President of South African.
