Jubilant after the thrilling 3-2 series win over New Zealand, England skipper Eoin Morgan has hailed his side's splendid performance and said the win displayed everything that they have strived over the years.

Jonny Bairstow, who was included in the side as replacement for Jos Buttler just 24 hours ago, helped England beat New Zealand by three wickets in a thrilling encounter at Chester-le-Street yesterday.

Morgan said that they have come out of left-field and have managed to deliver some entertaining cricket, the BBC reported.

He also hoped that they would maintain the level going into the Ashes.

Morgan's side set a number of records during the series and were particularly impressive with the bat - scoring their highest ever ODI score in one game (408-9), and recording their best ever run-chase (350-3) in another.

Morgan also praised the young Bairstow, who came as a replacement for injured Buttler and played a brilliant 83 runs innings to lead the English side to victory after they were reduced to 45-5 at one stage.

The skipper said that Bairstow was incredible as he stuck his hand up and won them the game in what was their worst batting display of the series.

The two teams will now meet on Tuesday in a T-20 international at Old Trafford, which is England's final outing before the first Ashes Test in Cardiff starting on July 8.
