England one-day cricket captain Eoin Morgan has lavished praise on his team mates after thumping New Zealand by 56 runs on Tuesday night in the one-off Twenty20 international at Old Trafford.

The victory concluded a successful series for England in which the hosts also claimed a 3-2 win in the one-day series and drawn the Test series.

England had suffered a humiliating World Cup campaign as they were knocked out the pinnacle tournament in the first round after a 15-run defeat to Bangladesh. However, the team produced an amazing turnaround and went on to smash a record 1,617 runs in the ODI series to beat the World Cup finalist.

Reflecting on the team's performance, Morgan insisted that when they play with that sort of aggression and adventure, they could beat the best team in the world.

The 28-year-old further said that the series felt a million away after the World Cup and credited interim coach Paul Farbrace and the backroom staff for helping the team to emerge as a strong and fearless side, the BBC reported.

Ahead of the upcoming Ashes series, Morgan maintained that they want to keep this momentum developing and improving.
