It is now Morocco's turn to join the Oscar race, as it chose 'Burnout' as its entry for the 'foreign language film' category.

The film, which is being directed by Nour Eddine Lakhmari, is a story about people from different social backgrounds residing in Casablanca, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

The Morocco-Norway co-production was released across cinema halls in Morocco on October 11, 2017.

'Burnout' will be the country's 14th submission to the Academy Awards, but till date, no film has ever earned a nomination. However, 'Omar Killed Me' directed by Roschdy Zem made to the shortlist back in 2011.

This film will be director Lakhmari's second submission after 2008's 'Casanegra'.

On the same day, Bolivia too chose 'Muralla' to be submitted under the said category.
