The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said that India has handed over to Pakistan, a letter of appeal from the mother of alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, who has been sentenced to death by a military court on espionage charges.
"We have made a 16th request to Pakistan for consular access and also informed about Jadhav's mother who wants a visa to visit him," MEA spokesperson Gopal Baglay said.
He added that Jadhav's mother has requested the intervention of the Federal Government of Pakistan for his release and has expressed the desire to meet him.
On being asked if India would score 100 in requests seeking consular access to Jadhav, Baglay said, "We wanted to get out on 0". We have no chargesheet against Jadhav. We don't even know who defended him."
Meanwhile Pakistan continues to refuse New Delhi's request for consular access.
Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua turned down the request on grounds that it did not apply to spies.
Jadhav has been sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage.
India has denied the allegations.
