Manchester United manager David Moyes has reportedly called for a clamp down on diving with video evidence and has claimed that he has reprimanded United's Ashley Young for his 'theatrics' in Saturday's 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace.
Young was booked for deliberately diving to initiate contact with Crystal Palace midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi in a failed bid to win a penalty in the Old Trafford match.
Condemning Young for his dive, Moyes insisted that the use of post-match video to prove players guilty of diving is the best way to sort out the issue, saying that although he has had a word with Young in private, he can never be sure that such an incident will not happen again.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has urged the football authorities to treat diving as harshly as preventing goal-scoring opportunities, saying that if preventing a goal-scoring opportunity is a straight red then trying to create one by cheating should be a straight red also.
According to Parrish, Young's dive and the appeal before put pressure on the referee to give a subsequent penalty that was outside the area and may not even be a foul, referring to their midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi being handed a one-match ban for denying Young a goal-scoring opportunity in the same patch.
