New Manchester United boss David Moyes has said that no player should ever require persuasion to stay at Manchester United and therefore he has no need to sit down and talk with striker Wayne Rooney.

According to the Mirror, Moyes claimed that he is more concerned about his unsettled striker's fitness than he is about his future, and suggested the 27-year-old will miss the Community Shield, and the England game against Scotland next week.

When the manager was asked how he felt about the second Chelsea bid, he snapped that he had not asked Rooney yet, adding that one does not need to convince anybody to play for Manchester United.

Meanwhile, the Scot strongly hinted that his fellow Everton old boy would not play any part in the club's final two pre-season games, the report said.
