The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the poll preparedness in Madhya Pradesh and asked authorities to take suitable measures to maintain law and order in the state.
Addressing a press conference post the visit, Chief Election Commissioner O P Rawat reiterated the polling body's commitment to conduct a free and fair election.
A delegation of the election commission during its two-day visit to the state met various stakeholders and representatives of political parties to review poll preparedness.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that Madhya Pradesh election officials have been strictly directed to ensure compliance of the Model Code of Conduct and take action against any complaint regarding its violation.
As per the Election Commission, a total of 1,54,437 cases have registered and action has been taken against 1,44,863 persons in the state till now.
Apart from this, special security arrangements have been made in Naxal-affected states ahead of the assembly polls.
The state will go to polls on November 28 to elect 230 members of the legislative assembly. The results will be declared on December 11.
