Mr. Manipur contest attracts large crowds in Imphal

The 47th "Mr. Manipur contest" and the 5th Women's Fitness Championship, which was held here recently, attracted large crowds in Imphal.

All together, 82 contestants hailing from 22 gymnasiums of the state participated in different categories. They competed in different genres like bodybuilding, women's fitness and gymnastics.

The event was organized by the All Manipur Body Building and Fitness Association in collaboration with the All Manipur Body Building Association.

"Even though I am very old, but I have come to participate in this championship, as years don't matter for staying fit and healthy. So, anybody can gym and stay fit. If we stay fit and healthy, then we can do everything properly," said R K Naransana, a participant.

 

Twenty-two-year-old Irengbam Deva of Lilong Arapati bagged the Mr. Manipur 2013 title. Rolina bagged the coveted Miss Manipur title in the Women's Fitness Category.

Contest winners will participate in upcoming national level competitions.

"Such competitions are very good because they help you to abstain from drugs and liquor, and to lead a healthy life," said Rolina.

"I am doing this for my health. So I don't do tobacco or drugs. But I stay fit and healthy, so it's very good," said John a participant.

The Mr. Manipur contest is a regular annual feature. It aims to encourage the youth to avoid substance abuse and lead a healthy life.
