President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday paid homage to former president Giani Zail Singh on his birth anniversary.
Pranab Mukherjee paid floral tributes in front of a portrait of the former President at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Zail Singh served as the seventh President of India from 1982 to 1987. His tenure as the President saw some of the remarkable incidents in the history of India such as Operation Bluestar, Assassination of Indira Gandhi and 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
He died in 1994 after suffering injuries in a car accident.
