Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Thursday claimed that both Mulayam Singh Yadav and his brother Shivpal have formed a nexus to isolate Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav politically and the people of Uttar Pradesh are being victimized as a result.
"Akhilesh Yadav has been isolated. Shivpal Yadav is completely dominating the party and Mulayam Singh is supporting him. In this fight of power, the Uttar Pradesh people are the one suffering the most," Joshi told ANI.
She said the BJP will make India free of corruption and ensure good governance.
Joshi's statement assumes significance in the wake of the political crisis engulfing the ruling Samajwadi Party over the last month and a half.
So deep are the differences within the Samajwadi Party, that hopes of it having a consecutive five-year term in office post the 2017 assembly elections are receding.
As a result, both the BJP and the BSP are seeking to make political capital out of the crisis prevailing in the state.
