Mumbai Dabbawallas delighted over PM Modi nominating them for 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan'

The Dabbawalas' from Mumbai expressed their delight after they featured in the new nine names nominated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take part in the 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' .

The Dabbawallas shared their joy by exchanging sweets amongst themselves and thanked Prime Minister Modi.

"We Mumbai dabbawalas first of all want to thank our beloved Narendra Modi. Till now all the ambassadors who were (nominated) were of big names. We are proud that dabbawala's have been nominated. We distributed sweets amongst us to express our happiness," said Dabbawala spokesperson, Subhash Talekar.

" We want to assure Narendra Modi ji that the confidence he has shown on us that will be completed. We will surely live upto that," he added.

 

Earlier today Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Varanasi today to observe 'Good Governance Day' on the birthday of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, nominated nine more nominees to take part in the 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan'.

Besides the dabbawallas, he also nominated comedian Kapil Sharma, activist Kiran Bedi and former cricketer Sourav Ganguly among others.

He also appealed to the Indian Institute of Chartered Accountants of India to take part in the mission.
