In a scary incident, an umpire officiating in the ongoing fourth Test between India and England was struck on the head here at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
The incident happened during the 48th over of England's first innings when Paul Reiffel, a veteran of 27 Tests, was struck when Bhuvneshwar Kumar hurled in a throw from the outfield.
The 50-year-old Australian was left on the floor and the medical team at the ground was rushed on to assist him.
Play was delayed as Reiffel was helped from the field before Third Umpire Marais Erasmus replaced him as the game restarted after a 10-minute delay.
