Britain Number one player Andy Murray advanced to the Rogers Cup semifinals after defeating French opponent Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Montreal on Saturday.
Second seed Murray claimed 6-4, 6-4 win to set up a clash against fourth seed Kei Nishikori in the next round,the BBC reported.
Top-seeded Novak Djokovik also overcame unseeded Ernests Gulbis 5-7, 7-6 (7), 6-1 in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, three-times Rogers cup champion Rafael Nadal suffered a 2-6, 4-6 defeat over Kei Nishikori.
Djokovic will next face Jeremy Chardy in the semifinals.
