Following the historic Wimbledon win of Scot tennis player Andy Murray, an upsurge in the numbers of children and young people either inquiring about joining or signing up for tennis membership in the UK has been found by British media.
According to The Independent, out of the 20 clubs, which responded to requests of data, in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, 18 said they had seen an upsurge.
Murray's mother said that it was great to hear about the development and that the key would be to retain the new players.
The Queen's Club in west London which hosts the prestigious Queen's Club Championships, revealed its summer holiday camps which are put on for members and guests were 'busier this year than ever,' the report said.
Coaches in Murray's native country also reported an increase in participation, the report added.
Tennis development manager at Tennis Scotland, Mike Cohen said that they had definitely seen an increase, as club activities were a lot busier.
