Defending champion Andy Murray could reportedly face World No.1 Novak Djokovic only in the semifinals at the US Open as both of them have been placed in the same side of the draw.

According to ABC News, Murray, who earned his first Grand Slam championship by beating Djokovic in the 2012 US Open final and his second by beating the top-seeded Serb in the Wimbledon last month, cannot have a rematch with Djokovic in the finals due to Thursday's draw.

Meanwhile, the report added that Spanish ace Rafael Nadal and Swiss star Roger Federer, who have never played each other at Flushing Meadows at New York, might meet in the quarterfinals.

According to the report, Djokovic and 2010 US Open champion Nadal, who recently overtook Murray at No. 2 in the rankings, could meet only in the final

Play at the year's last Grand Slam tournament begins from Monday, the report added.
