New Wimbledon champion Andy Murray's former coach Mark Petchey has said that he believes the Scot is a special sportsman, who should be cherished in the nation for his dedication and unique ability.

According to Sky Sports, Petchey thought Murray had been willing to push himself to the limit for success and now deserved to be recognized as a great champion.

The Sky Sports commentator coached Andy between 2005 and 2006 and said that there needed to be a great depth of character and resilience to win the Championships and that is what Murray displayed to win his first Wimbledon title.

The former player added that Murray had got everything to converge and come together because he had put in the hard yards, adding that he was a special champion of the kind we were not going to see again in our lifetime.
