Britain's Andy Murray Twitter account went into a 'meltdown' when a tweet involving by the world number four got some of the sport's biggest names involved.

The meltdown started when Murray put 30 minutes aside for a question-and-answer session with his 2.9 million followers on Twitter.

Murray tweeted that it's been a while since he did a little 'Q and A' so they should go for it, adding that he has got a good 30 minutes, News.com.au reported.

Everything was going smoothly with fans asking him about what he eats strawberries with or who was his favourite Premier League player.

But, then Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer chimed in with his tweet. He questioned the Scot that how did he get his hair to be so curly, adding '#HelpABrotherOut' to his tweet.

Murray responded with a picture of his locks in full flight, stating that the 17-time Grand Slam champion should let him know if he wants to go down that route, before claiming that Federer has hair he should be proud of.

Murray also tweeted that he doesn't take as good care of his hair as the Swiss does, claiming that he saw Federer checking his hair out during the photoshoot, before adding '#silkysmooth' to the tweet.

The pair agreed that it was all about the hair, as did Milos Raonic, the Canadian known for his big serve.

The conversation between the tennis stars was abruptly ended by a tweet from follically-challenged former Croatian star Ivan Ljubicic, who once reached the world number three ranking, when he chimed in with his 'no, its not' post.

Murray tweeted that Twitter has gone into meltdown since the hair conversation, adding that he is going to get ready for practice, before quoting the slogan of French cosmetics and beauty company, L'Oreal, which is an expert in making hair products. He added L'Oreal's 'Because you're worth it' quote to his tweet.
