Close associates and abettors of former Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf, during his reign in the federal cabinet, deterred from giving statements to the enquiry team of Federal Investigation Agency in regard to their role in the 2007 emergency rule by the then-military ruler.
The three-member team of the FIA headed by Additional Director General Muhammad Khalid Qureshi and two other directors were present to question the prominent adjutants of their contended role in the proclamation of 2007 emergency rule by Musharraf.
According to The Express Tribune, the team approached over 50 junior level officials, 16 civil servants, the then Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and the former president of the bar association of Lahore High court.
The supporters of Musharraf were unwilling to take accountability and instead involved themselves in accusations of one another.
The FIA in its research proposed a 'competent authority' may also take into liability the various catalysts in the unconstitutional decree of emergency in 2007.
Reports have further revealed that the FIA team mentioned that the defence ministry and the GHQ did not give access to desired information nor did former military top commanders attend phone calls from the FIA inquiry team members.
