The Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday said that a 15-year-old girl had allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze in Muzaffarnagar's Shahpur area when her lover refused to elope.
The incident took place on Monday where she died on spot.
The minor's 20-year-old boyfriend has been booked for abetment of suicide.
According to reports, the girl wanted to elope as their parents had opposed their relationship, but the boy refused to do so.
The body has been sent for post-mortem.
