New Delhi [India], April 13 (ANI): It is no secret that Vidya Balan has established herself as an actor par excellence with roles in films like 'Ishqiya', 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Kahaani 2'.

The 38-year-old actress has always projected women very strong and ferocious. Known for taking up bold roles, Vidya is back with yet another hard-hitting story in her upcoming film 'Begum Jaan'.

When asked about her thoughts behind choosing such strong roles, the 38-year-old star told ANI, "I think my work is an extension of my belief so I tend to choose characters that speak to me, the kind of women who inspire me, kind of women who are really struggling to come to their own, to stand up to their own feet. So, these kind of women inspires me and therefore I think I am drawn to play them, those characters are drawn to me that is why they come to me."

When asked about being called the flag bearer of feminism, the 'Parineeta' actor opined, "I don't think I m a flag bearer of feminism or anything of this sort. I don't believe or I don't subscribe to any -isms. I just live my life the way I want to, if that's being seen as feminist then so be it."

Vidya, along with the other star casts of Begum Jaan,' including Gauhar Khan, Pallavi Sharda and directorSrijit Mukherji were in the national capital yesterday to promote their film.

On a related note, Srijit's directorial, a Hindi adaptation of Bengali film 'Rajkahini,' which also features Ila Arun, Naseeruddin Shah and Chunky Pandey, will hit the theatres tomorrow.
