Myanmar Minister of Foreign Affairs Aung San Suu Kyi has conveyed to Minister of State for External Affairs General V.K. Singh that she is looking forward to visit India.

Meeting on the sidelines of the 23rd ASEAN regional forum held in Vientiane, Lao, Singh and Suu Kyi held discussions on India's assistance to Myanmar in various areas.

The Government of Myanmar has expressed its interest in learning from India's experience in solar power technologies and the use of technology for recycling waste in construction of roads.

Singh conveyed the Government of India's willingness to strengthen democratic institutions in Myanmar, particularly with respect to training their parliamentarians and to share experience in areas such as federalism, centre-state relations, distribution of power and resources between the centre and the state and political reconciliation.

Similarly, the Government of Myanmar also expressed to extend its support to India's developmental projects such as the Kaladan Multimodal Project, which aims to connect Kolkata's seaport with Myanmar's Sittwe seaport and the Asian Tri-lateral highway, a strategic road connecting India, Myanmar and Thailand.

The discussion was also focused on India providing help to Myanmar on rubberised roads, for which a concept paper has been shared with their government.
