Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has urged ethnic rebel groups not to rush the peace deal in nationwide ceasefire talks with the government to ensure long-lasting peace and stability.

According to The Guardian, Suu Kyi's statement came ahead of a meeting between the Myanmar President Thein Sein and ethnic rebel groups.

Reaching an agreement with Myanmar's rebel groups would come as a victory for President Thein Sein who has made the issue his top priority.

Suu Kyi said that if the ceasefire agreement is the real agreement to stop fighting, then she wanted to accomplish it at the earliest.
