Janata Dal (United) leader and former bureaucrat Nand Kishore Singh on Friday announced that he was leaving the party after being denied a re-nominated ticket to the Rajya Sabha. He indicated that he was in close touch with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"Well I have already sent my resignation from the JD-U. I am certainly in conversation with the senior leadership of the BJP. People think, that for good reasons, the fact that I was not re-nominated for a second term in Rajya Sabha is the principle reason that I was upset, which is indeed true, as I was disappointed, as it was understandable, since I did a fairly good job to promote Bihar nationally and internationally," Singh said.
"If I decide to join the BJP, it will be unconditional, because when you join a party, you work for the ethos of the party. I believe that India needs a strong leader and the NDA Government is in a position to provide a credible leadership," Singh added.
