World number one Rafael Nadal cruised into the quarter-finals of the Australian Open with a victory over Argentina's Diego Schwartzman at the Melbourne Park on Sunday.
The Spaniard won 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-3 on Rod Laver Arena to set up a last-eight meeting with Croatia's Marin Cilic.
Argentina's Schwartzman made Nadal sweat in three hours and 51 minutes long match as the 16-time Grand Slam winner faced his first defeat in a set of the tournament.
Meanwhile, in another men's singles, Kyle Edmund edged past Andreas Seppi to play his first major quarter-finals.
The British number two defeated Seppi 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-2, 6-3 at the same venue.
He will next face either Australia's Nick Kyrgios or Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria in the last eight on Tuesday.
