Nadda reviews preparedness against AES, Japanese Encephalitis in UP

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda on Friday met with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and discussed the state's preparedness with respect to the annual epidemic of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE).

According to a release by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nadda and Yadav discussed various health programmes being undertaken in the state, especially in the Gorakhpur, Siddarthnagar, Basti, Khushi Nagar and Maharajganj districts of east UP.

The minister also spoke of the 'Mission Indradhanush', which aims to cover all unvaccinated children against seven preventable diseases: diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B, by 2019.

 

In their discussion, Yadav and Nadda also discussed the H1N1 situation in the state, with the former assuring that necessary steps have been taken with respect to the disease.
