Hailing from Dimapur in Nagaland, Ating Newmai runs Seven Sister Spa and training academy in Panchkula near Chandigarh.
She plans to open more such facilities in the northeast and expand her business in the growing wellness sector.
Ating came to Chandigarh after completing a course in beauty from an institute in Noida. She worked at many reputed spas before opening her own facility.
Ating Newmai, the owner of Seven Sister Spa and Training Academy, said: "I started my own spa here because in northeast, spa culture is not yet popular in the region. So, it is better to get a good training and experience where such culture is popular and later I will extend in northeast."
Working in Haryana, she has never faced any discrimination and has been receiving a good response from her customers. She says she wants to train more youth from the northeast and provide them employment at her spas.
"Like me, any youth who doesn't have a government job or any other source of employment can start this kind of career. If I can open my own spa here and, if I can train them, then surely they will have their own career like this and they can open a spa like me. So, I want to train my people," Newmai said.
