People in the northeast have a natural inclination towards music and provided with the right opportunities, they can do wonders.
The young children of Nagaland are keen to pursue a career in music and are practicing hard to polish their skills at the Note Grid School of Music.
Established by Longden Longkumer in 2010 at Dimapur as a small music tutorial centre but soon grew into a full-fledged music school. It was started with a vision to teach, promote and make the learning of musical theory and practical training accessible for all.
In 2012, the school was recognized by and affiliated to two international music examination boards-that of Trinity College, London and Rock School, UK.
"Nagaland is a place which is filled with overwhelming talent. We have a lot of potential. If given the right platform, if right avenues are opened up for the music lovers, I think we can see a bright future for our musicians and students," said Alemkala, administrator, Note Grid School of Music.
"My students are from the age group of 14-45.They have great potential and they have good talent. If they work hard, I see a good future for them," said Among, a guitar teacher.
The school that initially imparted training in two departments, classical guitar and piano, now has seven departments. It currently trains students under two sections - Rock and Classical, which includes Classical guitar, piano, violin, bass guitar, vocals and drums.
"Music is a universal language which everyone can understand. Through music I want to convey to everyone the message of harmony and brotherhood," added Akumla, a vocal student.
There is no dearth of talent in the Northeast. With the right training, they can bring laurels to their state and country.
