Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said that he was pained by the behaviour of the opposition in the Lok Sabha while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was replying to a question on the recent release of separatist leader Masarat Alam.

"I was really pained by the behaviour of opposition. In between the Prime Minister's reply, the opposition were making comments and indulging in running commentary. This is not expected from the opposition and that too from the senior most party, of experience of more than 50 years," said Naidu.

"It is the opposition which raised the issue, I agreed with the opposition and told them that it is a very serious matter, I conveyed the same to the honourable Prime Minister, and when the Home Minister who is dealing with the subject and is very much there, normally there is no need for the PM to come and reply," he added.

Naidu further asserted that the Prime Minister came on the request of the members of Lok Sabha.

Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha was adjourned after opposition parties tore into the BJP led-NDA government over the recent release of Kashmiri separatist leader Masarat Alam.
