Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to name its Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming legislative assembly elections in the state.
Speaking at a press conference, Chavan said that the BJP was seeking votes in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and dared the party to name a CM contender.
Chavan further said that the Congress may drop some Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to give more opportunities to the youth and women.
His statements came after the BJP and their allies in the state, the Shiv Sena, were unable to come to an agreement over the issue of allotment of seats in the elections, with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray reportedly looking to be the Chief Minister of the state.
