Riled at the Congress Party for not inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the international conference to mark the 125th birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused the former of practicing hate politics.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Wednesday told ANI,"Congress practices hate politics, and they are consumed by hatred so much that they do not even respect the Prime Minister of the country."

"Today, the Congress is in this condition because of its narrow mindedness," he added.

The Congress is organizing an international conference on November 17-18 to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Nehru.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi had earlier said that his party did not extend an invitation to Prime Minister Modi as it only wanted to invite 'like-minded' people.

The conference on Nehru will be attended by leaders of various political parties from India and abroad.

Congress leader Anand Sharma had earlier announced that the conference will discuss Nehru's view on democracy, inclusion, empowering India and representative global order.

The conference will be chaired by party chief Sonia Gandhi. .
