National champion shooter Tara Shahdeo's husband R.S. Kohli alias Rakilbul Hussain, who is facing charges of deceit, exploitation and torture lodged by her, was arrested near the Delhi-Ghaziabad border last night.
Jharkhand's Inspector General of Police Anurag Thakur said Hussain will be presented before a court today for his alleged crime.
In her FIR, Shahdeo alleged that she was forced to keep silent about her husband being a Muslim and not a Hindu.
Ranchi Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtharay had said earlier that Tara married Kohli with her consent on July 7 this year and that Kohli has recently started believing Islam.
She alleged that Kohli beat her and forced her to convert to Islam after they got married in July.
Tara alleged she came to know about her husband's faith only after her marriage and that she was only able to SMS her family on August 19 when she got an opportunity to text after being taken to Delhi; and that led to her rescue.
The police have since sealed Kohli's house and seized his cars.
