National Rally Champion Sarika Sehrawat reveals why India hasn't produced racing mavericks

National Rally Champion Sarika Sehrawat said that the reason behind India not producing may stalwarts in motorsports is because of lack of training facilities, lack of government support and support of family.

She said that motorsports are considered to be expensive and the lack of sponsors is a deterrent to people from taking up the sport professionally, FHM India magazine reported.

Sehrawat said that another reason is that the racing tracks are scattered in the southern part of the country, which further discourages motor enthusiasts hailing from other parts of India.

She has spent 13 years in motorsports, and her tryst began from an amateur off-roading experience to eventually becoming a F1 expert for a TV channel.

She said that though motorsport is immensely dominated by male, she has managed to carve a niche for herself, minus the initial struggling days.
