NATO is sending surveillance aircraft over Poland and Romania to monitor the crisis in neighbouring Ukraine.
NATO said the decision to send AWACS reconnaissance planes was taken by the ambassadors of the military alliance's 28-member states.
According to Fox News, the move will intensify the assessment of the possible threat the crisis poses to the alliance.
NATO stressed that the flights will only fly above the territory of its member nations and not cross into either Ukrainian or Russian airspace, the report added.
